Study Patterns

Study Pattern or Coherent Study?

Students have three study patterns to choose from, as listed below. These patterns offer a clearly charted pathway through your degree. If you have decided definitively that this is the area you are interested in, a study pattern is a good choice

DEGREE: BA MAJOR: Gender, Culture and Media Studies

This interdisciplinary major studies the impact of gender on the study and production of culture, the arts, and media. It offers a focussed pattern which has less choice, but more streaming. As it is already interdisciplinary, you can move reasonably easily within the three fields: Cultural Studies, Media Studies and Gender Studies. For more information on how to design your program, consult our undergraduate counsellor.

DEGREE: B SOCSCI MAJOR: Gender Studies

This interdisciplinary major surveys a wide range of topics related to the study of masculinity, femininity and sexuality. The Bachelor of Social Science, while offering a wide choice in units from which to choose, does have specific requirements to be fulfilled. For more information on how to design your program, consult our undergraduate counsellor.

DEGREE: BA MAJOR: Women and History

This interdisciplinary major concentrates on Australian and international topics focussing on the study of women in history. It has a small, focussed, specific core of compulsory units, with room for plenty of electives on the side.
